A senior researcher at McAfee, Oliver Devane, says that Ai Scams are on the rise, which is not surprising with the text to audio tools that can mimic anyone’s voice.

Jennifer Distefano’s two children where off snowboarding, when she received a call. Her daughter, Bree, was screaming and crying for help on the other line. A man took over the line, told Jennifer that he has kidnapped Bree and that if Jennifer did not pay up, he would kill her.

Scammers have used AI to replicate Bree’s voice so accurately, that even her mother did not notice the different.
