Google To Launch Gemini AI To Compete With OpenAI
The Jinx Of It: Google is providing select companies with early access to its conversational AI software, Gemini, aimed at competing with OpenAI's GPT-4 model.
🔑 Key Takeaways:
Google is making significant investments in generative AI to catch up with OpenAI's ChatGPT
Gemini includes large-language models for chatbots, text summarization, text generation, and more
Developers currently have access to a substantial Gemini version, but a larger one, on par with GPT-4, is also in development.
How Will It Unfold? While Google has all the resources a tech company may ever need to compete, ChatGPT has been dominating the market since its launch and made the market highly compatible. It will be interesting to see whether Gemini will be able to capture a share of this market or potentially surpass Open AI.

Researchers have developed RETFound, an artificial intelligence tool that diagnoses and predicts the risk of multiple health conditions, including ocular diseases, heart failure, and Parkinson's disease.
RETFound diagnoses based on retinal images using self-supervised learning, which is similar to ChatGPT's training methodology.
The model performs well at detecting ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, scoring between 0.822 and 0.943 on a scale where 1 represents perfect accuracy.
However, its performance in predicting systemic diseases like heart attacks and Parkinson's is limited but still better than other AI models.
